Trump has backed down from his threats of tariffs on European countries to push them to agree to a US purchase of Greenland.
While the European Union wants to continue trade ties with it’s largest trading partner, it warned the bloc will stand up for its interests.
Speaking after an emergency summit in Brussels, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen admitted Europe had invested “too little in the Arctic and the security of the Arctic.”
In the next EU budget from 2028, the European Commission also wants to double financial support for Greenland, she said.
